North Carolina Charters - M.V. Salty

Lundy Charters is proud to bring you charters aboard the  M.V. Salty begining in March 2010. Contact us now for information on charters.

Serving Morehead City, NC, Atlantic Beach, NC, Beaufort, NC, Oriental, NC, and New Bern, NC, our 42-foot Salty, an elegant 1954 North Carolina-built wooden sportfishing boat, is being immaculately restored and will be available for charters of up to 22 passengers in March 2010. Constructed in Marshallberg, NC, she was the pride of the Camp Sea Gull and Camp Seafarer fleets located on the Lower Neuse River near Arapahoe, NC, for over 50 years.

Our company offers full-day, half-day, evening, and overnight trips as well as fishing charters, cruises to Shackleford Banks, Cape Lookout, and other area attractions, explorations of the Intracoastal Waterways and extended overnight trips to various locations along the Eastern seaboard.

All captains of the Salty are United States Coast Guard licensed 50-ton Masters.

Saving Salty has become an increasingly important endeavor. A part of North Carolina's maritime history, she commanded a prominent position on the Morehead City waterfront for almost 50 years. Built in 1954 by Gerald and Ray Davis in Marshallberg, NC, Salty exhibits distinct North Carolina flare and a rounded transom—forerunning design elements of today's North Carolina custom-built yachts.

Because of her 47-year association with Camps Sea Gull and Seafarer, Salty has afforded tens of thousands of children the opportunity to drive a big boat, catch a fish, and enjoy North Carolina's coastal waters.

The Salty departed from Morehead City, NC, on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 for Hayes, VA, on the Chesapeake Bay where she will undergo an extensive structural and cosmetic restoration in which her hull will be rebuilt for another 50 years of service and her original mahogany transom, mast, and toe rails will be exposed.
