"Nights and Weekends" Wilderness EMT Upgrade - February 24th-28th, 2010 - Chapel Hill, NC

Our Wilderness EMT Upgrade is designed for the practicing medical professional who wants to build upon their clinical background to provide care in austere environments.  This course will focus on “bridging the gap” between urban and wilderness medicine with a special focus on topics such as equipment improvisation, environmental emergencies, envenomations, diving and altitude medicine and the complexities of providing care where access to traditional resources is not an option.

Our Wilderness EMT upgrade course is available to any currently certified or licensed healthcare provider (EMT, Paramedic, LPN, AT, RN, RCP, PA, MD, DO). In order to accommodate the schedules of students and working professionals, this course will take place over two weeknights and one weekend.  Weeknight classes will be held from 1800-2200 hrs and weekend classes will meet from 0800-2000 hrs. Our course centers around hands-on, scenario-based instruction with an emphasis on the latest evidence-based treatment guidelines.

"Nights and Weekends" Wilderness First Responder - February 5th-14th, 2010 - Chapel Hill, NC



The Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is widely recognized as the “gold standard” medical course for guides, trip leaders, camp staffs and other outdoor professionals. This course is demanding and comprehensive and covers a variety of topics from patient assessment and treatment of illnesses and traumatic injuries to the logistics of providing care in remote environments and foreign countries.



Our Instructors are all experienced professionals who don’t just teach, but are currently practicing Wilderness EMTs, Paramedics and Physicians. In order to accommodate the schedules of students and working professionals, this course will take place over two weekends and six weeknights.  Weeknight classes will be held from 1800-2200 hrs and weekend classes will meet from 0800-2000 hrs.  Our course centers around hands-on, scenario-based instruction with an emphasis on the latest evidence-based treatment guidelines.
